Skin has creases or dips
A urostomy is a surgical procedure which diverts the passage of urine from the kidneys and ureters to the outside of the abdomen through a stoma. The most common way to do this is where part of the small bowel is isolated and then connected to the ureters and a stoma is formed to create a channel to the surface of the abdomen.

Support garments are strongly recommended either for someone who will be doing a lot of strenuous work to help prevent a hernia forming or for someone who is beginning to form a bulge to help prevent it getting larger. Because of the uneven shape caused by the contours of the parastomal hernia it may be quite difficult to find an appliance which will fit well without leaks.
